VISUAL JOURNALIST, DESIGNER, ART DIRECTOR
Thank you for taking a look at my visual journalism portfolio.
With over ten years of experience in editorial spaces, both in-house in newsrooms and collaborating as a freelancer with clients including The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, and LA Times, I am passionate about working in news visuals. The galleries below show some of my news design work, including:
Axios ⬇: From 2020 to 2024, I gained valuable experience working full time in the fast-paced newsroom at Axios, ultimately serving as the Associate Visuals Editor.
Yahoo News ⬇: Most recently, I have contributed product, news design, and illustration work to Yahoo as a freelancer.
Humanizing History ⬇: Since 2024, I have been designing and producing the branding, visuals styles, and illustrations for the non-profit newsletter resource, Humanizing History.

ASSOCIATE EDITOR OF VISUALS
My role at Axios evolved over 4+ years, from Freelance Illustrator to Visual Journalist and Senior Visual Journalist, to eventually taking on the role of Associate Editor of Visuals for National news coverage.
Leading a small team of brilliant illustrators – who were responsible for shaping visuals styles and creating fast, smart, editorial collages and conceptual illustrations on-demand – was an honor and a position I enjoyed immensely. Covering topics such as politics, business, markets, tech, health, sports, and more, we developed the necessary subject matter fluency in a wide-range of topics, and executed smart, fresh visuals daily. Responsible for the quality of images for over a dozen newsletters and beats, I practiced critical, decisive news judgement, provided art direction for story series and video, and regularly coordinated inter-team collaborations.

FREELANCE DESIGN AND ILLUSTRATION
In 2025, I had the opportunity to collaborate with the Yahoo News design team on a variety of projects, from icons redesign to interview images and templates to feature illustrations. Visuals were created in concert with, and building upon, a beautiful redesign rollout.
Product Design
Zodiac
A collaboration between Product and the Newsroom at Yahoo, I was asked to redesign the zodiac signs and icons for their homepage. We blended a geometric shape language and Yahoo’s color palettes to create 12 new main designs and thumbnail icons, and background banner. Art Direction by David Marshall Jr., and Project Management by Sara Colchamiro.
Photo Collage Features and Series
People
Photo collages for interviews and stories about public figures were made to be creative, fresh and playful while working harmoniously within brand style guidelines.
‘As Told By’ Templates and Series Design
I was asked to create a collection of templates in varying brand colors and compositions to serve as a template for future stories featuring autobiographical essays by readers. Feature formats, thumbnail crops, and quote cards were created for ease-of-use by any designer on the team, and built with adaptability in mind.
Kids Movie Club Series Design
This summer series was written by Suzy Byrne, and highlighted movies for kids with reviews by the writer and her child.
Features Illustration
Static and animated feature illustrations made to accompany lifestyle stories, with topics ranging from soda consumption, to enjoying rainy days outside, and cosmetic surgery popularity.
BRANDING AND VISUALS
A non-profit educational newsletter, I had the opportunity to design several branding components for Humanizing History, including their logo, color palette, and their illustration and photo illustration styles, as well as produce all newsletter, website, and social media images. This resource is designed for educators and parents, highlighting high-level concepts and frameworks for talking to kids about race, culture, and the human story. I developed a visual style which visually bridges child-friendly and compelling with respect to adult readers learning about challenging topics. The design was created with efficiency of both time and budget in mind, while also being open enough to grow with the organization as it expands offerings, projects and scale.
Illustration Styling
Photo illustration, collages, and graphics all utilize cohesive color palettes and integrate texture with organic shapes and edges.
